The Mountfield MTF 98M-SD is a practical petrol garden tractor designed for homeowners who want to cover larger lawn areas efficiently without the need for a rear grass collector. Its open rear design keeps the machine compact and highly manoeuvrable, making it particularly useful where frequent grass discharge is preferred.
Power comes from a 352cc Stiga ST350 single-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a straightforward 5-forward/1-reverse manual transmission. This combination provides dependable performance while giving the operator direct control over travelling speed.
The 98cm twin-blade cutting deck is designed to cover substantial areas efficiently, with seven adjustable cutting positions from 25mm to 80mm. Grass can be distributed through the side-discharge system, making the tractor especially useful when mowing faster-growing or longer grass.
For regularly maintained lawns, the machine can also be converted to a mulching configuration with the optional mulch plug. The finely processed clippings are returned to the turf, where they can naturally break down and contribute nutrients back into the lawn.
After mowing, maintaining the cutting deck is simple. The integrated deck wash connection allows a garden hose to be attached so that grass residue and debris can be flushed away with the blades engaged.
