The STIGA Tornado 398 is a versatile petrol garden tractor designed for efficiently maintaining larger lawns without the need for a rear grass collector. With its 98cm twin-blade cutting deck, hydrostatic transmission and powerful STIGA engine, it combines straightforward operation with the flexibility to choose between side discharge and mulching.
Powered by a 432cc STIGA ST 450 petrol engine delivering a net power output of 7.5kW at 2,800rpm, the Tornado 398 provides dependable performance for mowing areas of up to approximately 5,000m².
98cm Twin-Blade Cutting Deck
The 98cm mowing deck uses two cutting blades and incorporates anti-scalp wheels to help maintain an even cutting position across the lawn.
Seven cutting-height settings are available, from 25mm to 80mm, allowing the cutting height to be adjusted according to grass length and mowing conditions.
Side Discharge or Mulching
The Tornado 398 gives you two practical ways to deal with grass clippings.
The side-discharge function is particularly useful when tackling longer grass, distributing the cut material back onto the lawn rather than requiring frequent collection and emptying.
For regularly maintained lawns, the mulching function can be used to finely process the clippings and return them to the turf. This can reduce the need for collecting grass and allows the organic material to break down naturally.
A mulching plug is included with the tractor.
Hydrostatic Driving System
The pedal-operated hydrostatic transmission provides continuously variable speed control, allowing the operator to adjust the tractor’s pace smoothly without manually changing gears.
The responsive drive system also makes it easier to manoeuvre around trees, borders and other garden obstacles.
Comfortable & Practical Design
The Tornado 398 has been designed around an easy-to-use operator station, with a comfortable STIGA seat, ergonomic steering wheel and good visibility of the working area.
A front bumper provides additional protection to the front of the tractor, while the integrated storage compartment and cup holder add useful convenience during longer mowing sessions.
Additional equipment includes headlights, a deck washing connection and a seat safety switch.
The supplied tow hitch also allows compatible towing accessories to be used.
